Undershaw in Hindhead, Surrey, United Kingdom is the former residence of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A great example of late Victorian architecture it was built in 1897 as a place for the rest and recouperation for his wife.
Too many words will be needed to write about me. So lets just say that I am an ordinary person who appreciates all things in life. I am passionate about history and the people who make it.
My passion for history has led me on this incredible journey to save Conan Doyle's house. I would like to make a little history happen by doing something so extraordinary by resurrecting Undershaw just like Sherlock Holmes was resurrected there.
Imagine it's the year that Guy Ritchie's new film Sherlock Holmes is released, and there is an announcement that Undershaw, the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has been saved from the property developers by an unknown sponsor or source, the house formerly destined to become residential dwellings has had a reprieve. By some strange coincidence this has all happened in the 150th anniversary year of Conan Doyle's birthdate. What an amazing year 2009 would be! The release of a new film and Conan Doyle's former home purchased, restored and preserved with public access retained.
